Well, February came and went in a flash. I shot the short film, Birthright, an interesting perspective on how scientists in the near future, may have the ability to change the DNA of unborn children and to what degree this might challenge our own identity. Directed by the visual effects artist, Bryant Griffin (Pacific Rim, The Avengers, War of the Words and many more), he has switched to film directing in order to address the serious underrepresentation of people of colour in science fiction films.

One of the things that I love about LA, is the access I have to seminars and Q&As with industry greats and in February, I attended, 5, Film Independent, Directors’ Close-Up Q&A sessions, which featured an impressive line up of directors including: Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird), Ava DuVernay (Selma, A Wrinkle In Time), Sean Baker (The Florida Project), Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) and Mike White (Brad’s Status).

We are still waiting on the US and UK release of the sci-fi/drama, Age of the Living Dead, which I’d really like to see out there especially as last week, I auditioned to play the President of the United States in another project! We all know that you never forget your first, so I’d like President Margaret Robertson to have the air-time she deserves!
