Looking back at 2016, I booked work on 20 projects: 5 commercials, 1 promo, 1 primetime TV show, 1 daytime drama, 1 cable TV show, a series regular role in an independent TV series, 2 independent feature films, 3 short films, 2 industrials and 1 voice over. I was also offered another feature film and a web series but these project were cancelled.
So far in 2025, I have worked on 1 TV series for Netflix and continued work on an ongoing voice over project.
For the first quarter of the year, TV and film projects shooting in LA were down 22% on the first quarter of last year and that first quarter last year was already poor as we were coming out of the writers’ and actors’ strikes.
Having moved to Los Angeles to be at the centre of the film industry, it seems nearly everything is being shot somewhere else these days. There is so little happening but I am still building up contacts and hoping that past work can lead to future work. The film, Purple, that I shot in 2022 has finally been completed and I attended the premiere on 29 March so that will be hitting the festivals soon and should do well and hopefully, will be some much needed exposure.
Other than that, March and April were very slow and I’m heading back to the UK for the last two weeks of May which always puts the brakes on auditions so I’ll just have to hope that things have picked up by the time I get back in June.
My recommendation on this blog is the romantic comedy, Jane Austen Wrecked My Life, which is a sort of French Bridget Jones and offers up some hilarious moments. I thoroughly recommend seeing this in the cinema so you can share the laughter with everyone else.
